Performing routine oil changes on your Everyday Motorcycles Cruiser 500 is essential to keep your engine running smoothly and extend the life of your bike. Regular oil changes help remove dirt, debris, and old oil that can cause engine wear.

What You’ll Need

  • New oil (check your owner’s manual for the recommended type and quantity)
  • New oil filter
  • Oil drain pan
  • Wrench set or socket set
  • Funnel
  • Rags or paper towels
  • Gloves (optional but recommended)

Step-by-Step Oil Change Process

  1. Warm up the engine for a few minutes to help the oil drain more easily.
  2. Turn off the engine and place your motorcycle on a level surface using the kickstand or center stand.
  3. Locate the oil drain bolt underneath the engine and position your drain pan beneath it.
  4. Use the appropriate wrench to carefully remove the drain bolt and allow the old oil to drain completely.
  5. Remove the old oil filter and replace it with a new one, making sure to lubricate the rubber gasket with a bit of fresh oil.
  6. Replace and tighten the oil drain bolt securely.
  7. Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount and type of new oil into the oil fill hole.
  8. Check the oil level using the dipstick or sight glass and add more oil if necessary.
  9. Start the engine and let it run for a minute, then turn it off and recheck the oil level, topping off if needed.
  10. Dispose of the old oil and filter responsibly by taking them to a recycling center.

Regularly changing your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, or as specified in your owner's manual, will help ensure your Cruiser 500 stays reliable and performs at its best.
